Since 2021, the microcensus survey conducted by Statistics Austria has included a series of additional questions to find out why people who work part-time or are not employed due to care responsibilities do not make use of childcare services. The answers to these questions are analyzed in this factsheet for mothers and fathers according to the age of the youngest child and placed in relation to the population.

The central purpose of the evaluation of this study is to examine the extent to which the state law for child and youth welfare services, which was revised in 2013, is implemented together with the working principles set out therein, e.g. participation of children, adolescents and families in the provision of services, cooperation with private child and youth welfare services on the basis of agreements. The review of the objectives was carried out on the basis of interviews with various professionals as well as parents and other persons entrusted with education.
